Backstage bulbs hum while I steam a velvet cape, pretending I'm not mouthing the actors' lines. I design costumes for a Montreal theatre, build cosplay on weekends and write letters to dead playwrights. Give me a harmless-looking stage villain and I'll redesign the costume.
